that might be the case with a D3, or like a Defender TDCi, the VIN is stored on the IP cluster but it's not locked, so you can swap out a IP willy nilly but it will show up as the VIN of the vehicle it came out of. Either way it's all very doo-able.

The immobiliser details are there too so a car won't start until the info is copied over.

    Thumbs up

    Daz,
From the photo, I removed the two plugs with the orange levers. All clean.

I'm not too keen on removing the steering wheel, air bag, to get to the IP.

Since the Electric park brake control module faults along with the Air suspension control module and the bus goes from one the other, I thought I will have a look at that tomorrow.
Then the park brake module under the car.
Is what comes up on the read out when it faults.

Thanks for your help and ideas

All the symptoms do point to a failed instrument cluster.

Check out the full list of symptoms here from various companies in the UK that can repair:

We are talking about an 08 D3, surprised you haven't had to deal with one yet ? And for the record i had the same symptoms about a month ago twice in one day, never before or since so i'm preparing myself for it.

you dont need to remove the steering wheel to get the IP out... hrmm hang on, on a D4 you dont need to remove the steering wheel, might have to wait until someone else pips in

Nope, I've done quite a lot of D4 models but not D3, for every 20 D4s I get in I prolly do 1 or 2 D3s, in part its likely the D4 out sold all other models is my guess.

and unlike other places I decided to concentrate on just a few models is better for customer satisfaction and i guess my own sanity rather than do whatever comes through the door.

    D3, D4, Defenders

D4 should be the same as the D3 I would have thought.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the rod and the hook at the end?

I'm reading all this from the Land Rover 3 manual supplied by AULRD.

I'll wait, but just getting ready.
