SubscriberA place near me has some very low-Ks (as in, under 40,000 kms) ex-Navy diesel Territories for sale at the moment, and I noticed that the towing limit is only 2,300kg for the RWD models .... they'd want to be light horses ... and a light horse float .... even the AWD diesel is only rated for 2,700kg.

towing is 2700kg on the diesel AWD
the ford oil pump has 10mm vanes not the 7mm used on the D3....
ford rate the belts at 165k or 10 years

The guy across the road who had the 'belt failure' at 110 thou is not very mechanically minded.
Could have been a tensioner failure. It was an early vehicle and the motor was (is) munted and the warranty AFAIK was only good to 100 thou.
I'm toying with the idea of an AWD 2.7 Territory atm.

I did the swap to the Territory engine only a few months ago after an oil pump failure. Picked up a 2015 AWD territory engine for $3200 with only 33K. Engine was so clean.
Not a small task, but you can do it if you have time and a mate with a hoist.
All up I spent $4500 to replace the old engine and do the swap properly, including new timing kit, new main bearing seal, new pulleys, and all the consumables to swap the sump over.
For me, changing out the 2007 engine with 245,000kms to a 2015 with only 33,000kms for $4500 is money well spent. The territory engine runs much smoother and will give my disco life for many more years.
I don't notice any more power, or better fuel efficiencies, but it is quieter, smoother and more responsive.

SupporterOur MY12 D4 2.7 TDV6 still snapped the camshaft pulley and it would likely be one of the later 2.7 engines factory fitted.
