    CHECKING VIN OR REGO TO SEE IF A D4 IS AN 8 SPEED

    Guys looking at a 2012 May build car and have the VIN and Rego just don't know how to make sure its the 8 speed car update and not the old 6 speed gearbox? Any ideas to confirm please?

    Can you get them to send you a pic of the gear stick/console?

    Good guess it will be 6 speed.
    Any inside pics of the center console area of the vehicle?

    If you can get a photo ...

    Stick = 6 spd
    Knob = 8 spd
    If at first you don't succeed, that's one data point. - xkcd

    When I looked up vindecoderz.com with my L322 VIN, it gave me a full build list for the car.

    I am confused because some say if it has the rotary gear shift or paddles it is the 8 speed but a lot of 2012 builds dont have this and are called MY 13 so is it possible that there are some 8 speeds with gearshifters and no paddles?

    All 8spd has the rotary dial but not sure if they also had paddle shifters, it just depends on where it was in the build que, some 2011 built My12 in the UK have an 8spd but aussie sold vehicles didnt untill MY13.
    As someone said earlier just check the shifter.

    It does give a comprehensive report. Except for my OKA I guess calling it an OKA is comprehensive.

    Thanks for that resource, Ron.
