Nope, changed the whole RF shaft as it was quicker than doing just the boot about 2 years ago , LF got a gkn boot kit from the UK and replaced them last year - first time they were replaced.

IIRC the outer RH front split/tore years ago and recently the left front inner split right near the shaft so my mechanic put a cable tie around it until it could be replaced to keep dirt out of it.

My left hand front boots split a while back. As the CVs themselves were OK I could not be bothered pulling the shaft out so used split boots that are welded (glued) together.

They have been on for 40,000km and are working fine.

Weird. Well, just replaced again, so will see how we go.

Is it possible there is something else in the driveline that if failing or loose could be putting stress on the CV? (Left front, if that makes a difference).

I've noticed the power on/off signature disco clunk has gotten a bit more pronounced and have so far put it down to an aging car. Weirdly, if I let the car roll forward a few meters in neutral, then reengage drive, the clunk seems to subside for a while.
Could something be binding up maybe? Any idea where to look?

I don't recall seeing any fault codes related to drive last time i scanned...
