    G4 Disco 3 Specs

Gday guys - Anyone have the specs of the G4 Discos 3s?

I suppose they are just have 'every option' available....

More specifically, are they running 18" or 19" tires and which brand/size of tires do they use?

They all run 19" wheels with Goodyear MT/R tyres in 255/55/19.

I think they're HSEs (previous years were V8s, not sure about the newer ones).

OK... What do you want to know???

The latest batch of vehicles which were going to be used for the '09 event were TDV6 HSE with all the toys (including e-diff and TV).

    Tyres - Goodyear Wrangler MTRs. 255/55 R19

I've got all the details (too much to list here) so let me know what info you're after & I'll see if I can answer it.

(The car I drove is the one on the RHS)

There is no exact "G4 spec" per se. There are variations on a theme according to the country. The UK ones are different to the Aussie ones and the USA versions are different again, not even orange.

    However, they all have:

    - Tangiers orange paint
    - 255/55/19 Wrangler MTRs on 19x8 rims
    - the A-frame (nudge bar) and winch mount
    - LR roofrack
    - Rear ladder
    - some form of cargo barrier

Some are SEs up-specced, some are HSEs.

Here's parts & prices in Australia:

    DISCOVERY 3 (G4 ACCESSORIES) RRP:
    - Expedition Roof rack (CAB500021PMA) - $1693.54
    - Goodyear MTR Tyres (HYM1368) - $434.50 each
    - Front sump guard (KRQ500010) - $1185.65
    - Rear Ladder (AGP78020) - $481.48
    - Raised air intake (ADL780010) - $654.50
    - Cargo barrier (RAA559) - $522.50
    - Front lamp guards (VUB501200) - $426.77 Kit
    - Rear lamp guard (VUB501380) - $451.00 Kit
    - Winch (VUB501471) - $4345.00
    - Tow bar (RAA550) - $195.80
    - A Frame (LR005743) - $1190.41

There are only two G4 D3s in Australia and both have been sold to private owners in Victoria. You cannot order the car with Tangiers Orange but all the other kit is available as above.

The SE is the exception... Out of all vehicles prepped for the '09 event, only one was a SE, all the others were HSE.

The cargo barrier is the LR one, some of them were fitted with a divider so they could also be used as an ambulance.

The 'USA' spec you mention is what's known as the G4 'Trek' vehicles which were used for a similar type of event as well as the G4 selections process. All of the '09 vehicles are the same 'UK' RHD spec and built up with the same kit.

The '06 G4 vehicles were both RHD & LHD, depending on which country they were to be used in. They were all HSE but the LHD HSE spec is only 5 seats where as the RHD is 7 seat.

The '09 vehicles had Hella HID lamps on the roof (which are 'kin bright!!!) where as the previous events used the Warn spots.

The two Aussie G4 D3s have (had) Hayman Recce barriers not the UK's barriers, are SEs with various extras and have no roof lights. And they have rollers not hawses for the winch cable. I presume the Mongolian ones are the same as the UK. I don't know if any other country than the UK, USA and Australia ordered a G4 vehicle.

If anyone is interested in G4 cars check out:

    G4 Owners Club

And trivia; the newer roof lights are seperately switched to main beam, as they always should be.

I suspect that they're 2x vehicles put together by LRA for the selections & promo tours. The event cars have always been HSE spec.

It's important to distinguish what is meant by 'G4 cars'. When you mention G4 to an 'enthusiast', they take it as meaning ex-event cars. However, there are plenty of other 'G4' cars out there, G4-Trek being one style and the G4 LE (Limited Edition) being another type. Even in the UK, we had 'G4-Trek' which were essentially standard cars, with lots of stickers!

Just be careful with them as they're a delicate bunch...

Exactly right, that's precisely what they are.

Agreed....but this is the point at which my eyes start to glaze over about whether such and such a car is a "G4" car or not. Does it have to have been used in the finals? Will selections do, surely that's an "event", if not *the* event ? Is a G4 car still a G4 car if not kept to the G4 standard, if the stickers are removed or accessories taken off? That's where the Owners Club comes in, they'd know all that detail. My care factor has a half life with each question, I just think they're cool cars.

Actually if the criteria is being using the in Big Event then there are NO G4 cars made in 2008!

And what about standard vehicles (non-orange) that were used in the selections. Are they special too? If the eventual winner drove one?
