Their work and reaction to warranty claims has been first class..including sorting things under warranty that existed when I purchased the car.

I'm still comfortable with my decision, had I not had such a good relationship with the dealer I might think differently.

Major component failures (big ticket items) you will be OK with but I believe the interpretation of failure shifts a bit. Something that would get changed under the original warranty no questions asked may get challenged.

Smaller things like trim and fittings probably won't.

But as you have stated, a dealer has the ability to honour what they like and good faith still counts for some folks.

There are quite a few Allianz products ... it's an insurance policy .... and I mean that literally. So with RACQ or YOUI, etc, you get offered different levels of cover .... just like Health Insurance.

I made my money back on the ~$3500 I paid for the Allianz NEW cover that I bought through a Broker for my first D4 in one claim.

However, D4 number 2 has been very, very good (touch wood), so like others, I may be in a quandary when the time comes to decide.

BTW ... Steering linkages are a pretty critical part, they'd be pretty crazy (read litigation) to argue over those .

    Cheers.

Got a quote for the new D4 last week. $3,800 for +2yrs up to 100,000km or $4,000 +2yrs up to 200,000km.
For $200 I would take the later option just in case I get to use her more than planned but I'm really not sure if at 4K it is worth it.

I paid $3,300.00 2 years ago for the 100,000km cover for 24 months extra.

Back then it was $3,995.00 for 24 months/100,000kms or $3,595.00 for 12 months/100,000kms. Land Rover offered the 24 month cover for $3,595.00 if you bought the policy at the time of delivery - within a fortnight. My dealer also took another $195.00 off and I talked the dealer into another $100.00 off so I ended up paying $3,300.00.

Just got quoted $4,100 for the extended (+2 years) warranty and cleverly "I can add it on to your finance and it's only $18 extra per week".

Not sure I'm buying year 4 and 5 right now before even taking delivery.

$4,100 seems like a hell of a lot of money for only covering "manufacturing faults", especially on a mature (D4) product.

Only other comment I'll add is, that it DOES include the LR Roadside Assistance, which definitely has some value. Any more than NRMA though?

Given the recent issue I have had with my D4, I can certainly say LR Roadside Assistance is an excellent service and the people working there are first class.

With my issue LR engaged the NRMA as the preferred call out service. Note: I am in Sydney.

One of the guys here took his L322 RR to the kimberley and it blew a shock. LR paid to come collect it and tow it out pkus some other expenses IIRC. Hopefully they see this and can tell you about it themselves.

If you're planning to head far out of the city the extended warranty and roadside assist is probably worth it. Only one serious thing has to go wrong for it to pay for itself!

    Cheers
