How does certification go with that bar - I want to put a D3 bar on my RRS but the expense of the engineering and certification process to make it legal make is likely to be a bit prohibitive.

    Hi Rim,

In relation to the UHF I have the icom-440 which has the remote mic including speaker. When they installed it the main body was placed behind the lower trim on the passenger side foot well (door side) and the mic which comes with a 2.5M extension lead just pocked out from the bottom corner of the center console on the drivers side (where the carpet meets the console). Very neat and tidy and use's up no space. then stuck the mic mount on the side of the console with double sided tape.

As for repairs in the bush it has been a challenge. As most of our travels have been on the west coast (now in Darwin) service center's are few and far between so there has been some doubling back. Most people just look at it and walk away. It has also had 2 trips on a flat bed.
Just yesterday I replaced the 2 front air struts due to the left front failing, mind you it has now covered 165,000KM so it was expected at some stage. The local Darwin LR dealer wanted way to much for the parts and labour. Tried a couple of independent mechanics and they showed little interest as well, mainly due to the fact they only work on earlier models.
There have been several times in the last few weeks were I almost traded it for a Toyota 200 series, but I have come to my senses and am sticking with the Rangie.
All I can say is that if you are going to travel remote with one of these things do as we have, carry a sat phone an 'e'perb a UHF, spare fuel and oil filters and service it yourself.

    Regards

    Tunny

Anyone know if Paul & Andrew have made any progress with the snorkel for L322 TD6, I would really love to fit one before heading north in May next year.

    Hi Peter

I haven't spoken with Andy in a while as we have both been crazy busy with our day jobs. Don't know if he has progressed with the L322 snorkel.

I will PM you his current mobile number. Best to send him a text during the week day and he will call back, or you might get him on weekends.

    Cheers, Paul.

I saw the Rangie with the bar heading into Erina fair shopping complex on the central coast about three days ago... I tried to chase it down so I cold have a good look at it however it got away on me in the numerous car parks

It looks awesome!!, id love to see it in the flesh and be able to understand how much was involved to make it fit. It must live on the central coast because i have passed it a couple of times now

Like many I'm waiting for bullbar also; the one thing we won't get are solid side steps. When I enquired with different companies it was the same story. Vehicles with side/curtin airbags arn't permitted to have reinforcement in the area of the activation sensors and area covered by the airbags (ADR Regulations). Hence only plastic and aluminium side steps are marketed.
I have seen some on later model Toyotas; but the heavy bars from the bullbar stop near the base of the A-pillar then a lighter tubing for the side steps.

    Bob,

For your information, I had some heavy duty, and I mean heavy, sliders made for me by Bruce Davis in Sydney. I also have 10mm plate on the underside for protection of the front end and shaft. Hope this helps. Rob
