well took it to my regular mechanic and put it on the autologic. The second he cleared the fault the car raised it self and the lights came on showing its height.
So its going to be good to have the tool I bought knowing that clearing can fix a lot.
thanks Catch - please let us know how that product goes.

Hey there Caine,
Glad to see that you got it sorted finally. Should be handy to have the tool around in case of (heaven forbid) another incident, or just some annoying electrical gremlin. Might just look into one of those diagnostic thingies meself.
Don't suppose your mechanic chappie mentioned what the fault was that he cleared for you?
Always handy to add to the mental database of things that have happened.

g'day Iain,
Yeah it will be good to have given the simplicity of the fix - to clear a fault. What were LR thinking?
The fault was a CAN BUS fault. The tool was really good. It showed several options of the source of the error. So a simple comms issue killed my suspension and rather than trying to recommunicate it decides I should wait until I have to take it somewhere to reset.
I will report back on the tool. Cheers again for your help with this one.
Cheers
Caine
You just have to wonder what they really were thinking.
After 30+ years in IT I have to wonder what the software engineers were doing. Seems almost alien to me that they would not retry communication for a CAN-BUS fault. I mean, sure, for the current start cycle try a few times and then log the fault. Not to retry on next start up and carry the fault just seems bizarre.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable than I about the intricacies of the EAS could explain why this happens. As a good friend of mine used to say "It just makes no damn sense." Well not on the face of it anyway.
You're really convincing me to seriously consider this new-fangled diagnostic tool.
Look forward to hearing further how it performs.
Happy (Range) Rovering,
Iain
Hello to Catch-22. It sounds like we have matching Range Rovers. I'll post mine once I have told the monster that I have bought it. Maybe three weeks or so. I'd love to stay in touch and compare notes.
Have you recently sold the Adriatic Blue 2002 V8? Maybe I just bought it?
Anyway, Cheers.
Just went to my L322 to check codes as per this thread. Mine seems to go straight to instrument cluster test. How do I reset defect codes? I follow the directions to select 21 on left button(cannot find it), but I find the cluster test coming up. Jim

Hi Jx2mad,
I'm far from an expert at this but it seems to work for me. Here goes anyway.
The instrument cluster test is the second one in the list. I don't think you need to have the menus unlocked to run this one. Some of the others you do need to have entered the car's ID correctly though.
Pardon the obvious question here but did you repeat pressing the left button to get to test 21?
The Right button you seem to have found (it's between the Tacho and the Temp gauge) and the Left button is the Trip Reset one between the Speedo and the Fuel gauge.
OK then.
*Press and hold Right button and turn ignition to first position (I or Accessory)
Display should show "Check Control OK" then a short time later "Test Nr.01"
*Press the Left button and you should see the car info in the display.
Add the last FIVE digits of the car identity number together (NOT all 6!) to get a unique ID for your car.
*Press the Right button repeatedly until you see "Test Nr.19"
*Press and hold the Left button until you see the number matching the unique ID you calculated, then release.
*Press the Right button to select this.
*Press the Left button repeatedly until you see "Test Nr.21" - Reset All Defect Codes
*Press Right button to reset the codes.
Done!
Give it another try and if it still gives you grief PM me.
Hope this helps some.
Good Luck,
Iain
