    Rhino racks

All, any issues with fitting aftermarket racks (eg rhino aeros I have from my old D4, although on that vehicle they bolted to LR roof rails), bolting the legs into the factory roof mount points? I havent worked out how the little flaps come off yet (couldnt see that in the hand book) but assume its easy. Anything else to be aware of?

    cheers

Easy to do. I've got some cheap versions on my roof, but they bolt on strongly and are very sturdy. I think the factory strips have clip off covers over the screws, then unscew them and the whole strip comes off. I can't quite remember now, but it wasn't hard.

When I screwed the roof rack mount points on, I used a bit of Sikaflex underneath them to stop water collecting unde them - you will see what I mean when you fit them.

Even the cheap set I bought had stainless fasteners and it went together very well. I was going to take the cross bars off when I wasn't using them, but I never have, and I haven't noticed any difference in fuel economy either.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Hi

I've got a set of Rhino roof racks on my L322. No problems . Like Gav I was going to take mine off went not in use But there still there.

The flaps over the factory mount just swing up. Do not remove. Screw out studs & replace with Rhino rack mounts

This is what I have Vortex RLCP Roof Rack | Rhino-Rack

    Fitting instructions http://vpm.cdn.rhinorack.com.au/Inst...egs/RLCP05.pdf

There are 3 bars & are level when fitted. A little noisy with the sun roof open.

As you will see there are a couple of other designs too. All depends on what your going be using them for .

Also confirm my rack goes straight onto the Rhino feet, without RR Cross.bars.

CBH25 - that looks perfect for what I had in mind for extended trips - is that a Rhino rack or Tradesman roof rack?

CSBrisie, my car will be in Brisbane Domestic long term car Park over Wed & Thurs this week.

If you want to swing to see the rack for yourself, let me know I'll let you know the level. I believe first 15 mins are free, you can just drive straight out again?

There is no instructions so you have to work out the spacing which is not hard, but the “Pioneer” platforms fit.

Ah I wondered if a Platform rack would fit - good - will consider both options! Thanks guys; I've just got in from the airport and will be back out there next week so my timing is just out! Damn.
