    coolant change

Am about to give my beast a service and am wondering which coolant to use.
OAT or the Blue. At the moment is looks a yellowish colour, was darker before(red).

Reason is when I go to work in the afternoon I dont hear the fan running. On my way home around midnight, when I get up to 70ks+ it starts running and the gauge is only just on the quarter mark.It stays running until I get down below 70ish again.

Or could it be a another problem that I havent come across yet.

    Thanks

    cheers

Last time I looked into this I couldn't get a straight answer, so I ended up lashing out and getting the OEM Blue coolant to be sure.

What ever you put in it, make sure you flush the old stuff out properly. Having a mix is when you are likely to have issues.

The blue OEM stuff is very good. I did a thermostat recently and the inside of the housing looks brand new after 10 years.

Ouch! Never thought of getting it from BMW but LR only charged me $68 for a 4 litre concentrate.

Rang BMW and LR and now they say that the coolant is all GREEN.

So I'm going down to my friendly LR dealer whose price is $115 for 5 ltrs.

One very confused boy here, will ask them when they changed coolant from blue to green when I get there.

    cheers

I used the Nulon blue, about 35 bucks at supercheap for a 5 litre concentrate.

Ran the car with a mix of what ever blue stuff was in it and some nulon for about 20k before getting to a full flush and replace.

Hopefully its ok stuff, been in there for about 60k now.
