How did u get power to roof rack lights

Then in the afternoon I installed this nifty voltmeter into the center console where the old phone used to rest. It does involve making a few holes in the phone cradle but worth it.

The parts required to install this were:
    • LCD Volt readout screen

    • 3 way switch with 'I' '0' and 'II' buttons

    • 10m of positive red cable

    • 5m of negative black cable

All up this came to around $30. I already had a solder at home which is required.

I ran the positive cables from both batteries to the switch, then the middle connector on the back of the switch ran to the positive of the voltmeter and the negative of the voltmeter ran to ground. Simple install, only time consuming part was running the wires.

All in all very happy with the result.

Next up is the LED bar, im getting some steel fixing points welded to the cage this weekend so hopefully Ill be able to show some photos and possibly wire it all up sunday!
I am wondering how you ran the wires to light bar etc?

Hey, nice rack! Which point did you choose to get power up to the rack? I've been mulling my options for a while, don't want to drill anything...

    Expo Roof Rack

    Hi All,
I'm heading out to Innaminka/Coongie Lakes/Birdsville in July and want to mount two jerry cans and a small gas bottle on the RR factory expo rack...its not ideal for this TBH - Rhino et al are much better designed with heaps of specifically designed accessories (eg genuine twin jerry can holders, 4kg gas bottle mount, spare wheel mount etc).

Anyone seen anything I could use for mounting safely two jerry cans and a gas bottle - that might suit the tubular alloy design of this expo rack? The extra spare can just use a tri strap.

I note the 2006 G4 Challenge cars had a floor fitted (see photo) so I might go that route.
    cheers

Here's my roof rack using a basket from a Patrol, now only needing some paint splashed on the brackets and rails. It hasn't been for a run yet so I don't know if its noisy or not.

If the Rhino Pioneer Platform on mine is anything to go by, it will be very noisy. Fortunately the L322 seems to be well insulated from noise and it's only an issue if I open the sunroof.

The 2 roof bars in mine make a bit of noise compared to when they aren't on, but it's not a huge issue. I don't use the sunroof so I wouldn't know if it's noisy with it open.

You could attach a scoop to the bottom rail of the rack. I'm sure you've thought of that.

I agree. For the last 2 weeks or so its had 2 open-ended lengths of 25x25 rhs side rails but I couldn't hear any more wind noise than usual even at 110 kph. The ends will be plugged after the rails are painted.

A solid floor over the front portion of the mesh floor seems to be a popular fix.
