No safety margin so something isn't up to scratch.

Many years ago I bought a set of hoses for my 76 RRC but still hadn't fitted them when I sold the vehicle several years later.

Yes, dual circuit so should have had quite useful braking.

The emergency braking feature over a slow speed (8 kph?) operates the hydraulic brakes initially then the park brake only if the vehicle isn't slowing sufficiently. With no brakes at all from the pedal then there is a problem with the dual circuit system.

Are you sure that the pedal went all the way to the floor? I'm reminded of when my wife drove our 76 RRC though our front gate when a picked-up stick broke a rear brake pipe. She was adamant that the pedal went all the way to the floor but it didn't, just very close. It indeed still had brakes.

A bit off topic, but that was a common problem on Fraser island when i was a kid.The only thing that then stopped the series LR was the hand brake.Used to work well until the parts for the repair could be flown in.

Now you have made me nervous about mine. Perhaps I should change the hoses. I have had to change one rear hose on my Dad's 05 Sport.

    Hi Graeme,

Very sure, you made me think though. This last time I didn't continue depressing the pedal as I didn't run the brake fluid down. But the first time definitely tried and no response.

Bit strange I've had both go and there isn't much on this when searching the Internet.

Searching through older posts I noticed this one.
There is now a recall on brake hoses in l322s and many other cars.
Definitely log into Topix and put in your Vin to see if there's a recall.
I haven't booked mine in yet but will soon.
    Mine came up in topix.

Mine's hoses were changed prior to pick-up whilst the front suspension and diff were removed to install the 4.4's revised secondary turbo drain pipe.
