No I didn't because when I was confirming the order the freight cost jumped back up to the same that I baulked at late last year. The price given on an on-line chat session wasn't upheld. I'm still pondering my next step but am really sick of the dust/mud on the window and hip.

Having spotted the large slots in the top and underneath of the D5's spoiler, I have procured a used spoiler from an earlier L322 at a good enough price to warrant a test of similar holes. Whilst the airflow wont be as direct through the spoiler as the D5's, hopefully it will be sufficient to cause a worthwhile reduction in accumulated dust.

Large slots in the spoiler keep the dust pretty much down at 80-90 kph on my lane but failed to make much difference at 50 kph on my 2km driveway, both made extra dusty by many semi-loads of grain over the last several days, although stopping to open a gate allowed the dust to catch-up and smother the back of the RR making it worse than when driving. I'll trial it for a while but suspect that some low scoops will be required to catch the air.

    G'day Graeme,

How did this end up going? It has been some time now, did the scoops end up improving the dust deflection?
Pictures would be good if you can.
    Cheers

The scoops were very low so didn't catch enough air to make enough of a difference.

I have recently cut a 3rd, centre slot and have today acquired a low, dark-tinted sun-roof wind deflector that will be attached facing forwards. My 2 original slots are too wide for the deflector so will be filled in to the width of the deflector. The deflector sits within the lower section of the spoiler so is not much higher than the spoiler ends. I think it will look OK, much like a vehicle-specific dust deflector except that it isn't full width. If it tests OK then I'll paint my test spoiler black which will probably go unnoticed on my Bournville (dark metallic brown) vehicle although the dark tint might be acceptable on any colour vehicle. I'll post pictures when I've tested it.

Here is a link to the deflector.

95cm wide may have been better but the wider 105cm version would sit up on the raised ends so is unsuitable.

Cautiously testing the new deflector: 100 kph into a strong headwind without it flying off and the dust keeping low then 100 kph with strong tailwind saw a little dust swirling on the windy corner, all without any noise. I'll probably fit a brace in the centre to help keep it tied down at higher speeds.

The leading edge of the deflector needed to be trimmed by about 25 mm because it fouled the roof when the tailgate was opened. Mounting it further back wasn't really an option as it would have overlapped the stoplight preventing removal of the stoplight and because I wanted to fit clips over the front of the spoiler. Besides, it was already stuck to the spoiler.
The rear edges of the 2 outer openings could be sloped to align with the centre opening to gain a little more airflow.

Those are half the width of the deflector that I used but something that could be hung over the back edge like it would be my preferred design.

    G'day Graeme,
That's looking the goods, now does it do the job at low speed as well? I'm taking it that you had some of that strong wind out your way yesterday as well. Maybe today will be a little better for a test run.

On another note, have you sent my dual battery set up yet? If not I would like to have the Anderson Plug attachment as well.

    Cheers

I'll try again tomorrow although having had 4 mm of rain last night the dust wont be very indicative.

You probably should be talking to Drivesafe about your dual battery kit.
