Mine looked like that in the New England as well. I had to keep washing the back with a hose when we got back to the lodge so I could open the tailgate and not fill the car with bull dust! Whilst that looks like crap, the worst part is what sits in the shut line gaps.........they just fill up and then shower the inside with a light coating of dust every time you open the rear end.......got very peeved with it whilst away this time. you can see it a little bit in the attached pic.

How similar are the 02-09 rear spoilers to the 10-12? There is a part number for each of these model ranges so knowing if the difference is significant or not regarding shape would be of benefit if a single design dust deflector would fit all L322s. Do MY10-12 use a LED stop light whereas the earlier ones use incandescent? If so then the difference may only be the mounting for the light. The pictures in the parts catalogue look identical but they are only line drawings.

Being utterly sick of dust going everywhere when the upper tailgate is opened, I had a fiddle trying to raise the spoiler so that it could catch air. It could be done with Z brackets to raise and move rearwards the leading edge and something similar for the rear locating grommets but concluded that it still would not intercept enough air to keep the dust off the window. I must get to an auto accessory outlet to look for a suitable deflector from some other vehicle - perhaps a task for next week.

I've only had one half-hearted attempt to find a deflector from another vehicle so far but had to take action to prevent total loss of paint from the top corners of the lower tailgate where the seal on the top section was using dust to grind away the paint. The top corners of the lower tailgate are now covered with protective plastic film that is almost invisible but doing its job. My D4's whole top of its lower tailgate had been covered with film after a respray when the paint had worn away.

I'm interested, too. I noticed the dust after a recent trip. I'm sure my P38A didn't get as much dust on it.

Graeme, I'd be interested in a pic showing the location of the clear film.

Maybe we need the defectors used on cars in the Sixties!

I did see an my12 shaped Autobiography L322 in Brisbane with an added section to the roof. It looked like a sun visor for the rear window but could have been to keep dust off. This looks like it

Overfinch have an extra spoiler for the L405 but it looks more like one that provides a little down force at speed rather than a wind deflector for dust control but perhaps they also had one for the L322. My MY12 AB only has the standard spoiler which seems to cause dust to gather rather then keep it away.

I'll post a picture of the film tomorrow after I clean off the dust.

Good find, but this QP Online version looks like a poor copy of the Overfinch version shown below. I note that the selling business has a picture of a vehicle fitted with an Overfinch one on their web-site. The Overfinch one looks to sit above the roof-line just enough. An inquiry to Overfinch has been made but they are closed until 11th.

The QP Online version appears to have a convex shape to catch the air whereas I would expect it to be concave in order to direct air downwards. It doesn't have the curved-down edges of the Overfinch and appears to be narrower.

I think I'll buy one of these...delivery quote when they open on 6th. If it doesn't catch enough air then I'll fit a spacer under its mount.
