    tyres l322

Ok after some help picking a relatively quiet 255 55 19 tyre that isn't too exxy and has dirt road toughness... any recommendations from you all? No 'offroad' use just bitumen and gravel roads however towing a heavy van and load in the vehicle.

I've had these cheap and cheerfuls for the past 9 mths, bought from a local tyre fitter.

Great on road wet and dry. I've used them on the beach and just did a 1700km trip towing a hard floor camper to Lightning Ridge and back, which included about 100km of gravel (& stones) road at HW speed. I was impressed by them.

Have you had part-worn ATRs in heavy rain? The grooves on the outer bands are only half depth so the tyres become useless well before they should.

I have Pirelli Scorpion ATRs on my D2 and they're down to the wear markers.
Unless I'm being incredibly stupid in the wet at ludicrous speed, they're not a problem.

The 16" ATRs that I had on my D2 were different to the 19" ATRs that I had on my D4. I'm not the only person to shy away from the 19" ATRs after loss of traction on smooth roads in reasonably heavy rain.

I'm partial to Toyo or Continental having had great life and performance from them in 16" applications however as Graeme mentioned the tread patterns can be quite different. Just put off by the $$ at the moment 😮

Bridgestone D697? Not sure if they're available in that size.

I had contis before the cheapies. The tread depth were a 1+ mm above the wear markers. They were getting slippery.
