Hi Guys,
As I'm paranoid about the state of my Batteries I decided to install a couple of voltage gauges in the front of the Rangie.
I bought 2 of the cheap round volt meters that come in a small panel.
Same as these
DUAL BATTERY 12V 4X4 SYSTEM MONITOR FLUSH MOUNT MARINE BOAT VOLT GAUGE FRIDGE
I'd worked out I'd make a small bracket and mount them above the ignition key.
Then I hit a problem........
Sitting in the drivers seat in daylight the gauges are unreadable, regardless of how I tilt them. They are illuminated red but I'm not sure if the other colours the come in would make more visable ?
The unlit segments of the numbers are too "white" and make the lit bits hard to see.
Question for the wider group, has anybody got experience with other gauges that might do the trick, not looking to spend a fortune ?
Darren
I installed 2x 4.2A twin USB charging ports with voltmeter, one on left is cranking battery and one on right is auxiliary battery. In bright daylight from the driver's seat I can't read the cranking battery voltage due to the curvature of the dash panel, but can easily read the auxiliary battery voltage. Night time I can read both easily and they are not any brighter than the white digits on the climate control, so not a distraction when driving.
