The bonnet switch was the cause of my alarm problem. The problem wasn't with the switch itself. The switch plastic mount bracket had cracked which let the switch drop and simulate the bonnet being open.

I unplugged the bonnet switch on mine within the first few months of ownership. No false alarms since then (4 years or so).
