Yes, i thought I could smell that faint electrical smell when I opened the door the other morning. thought it was my imagination.

I must of read the new multi meter wrong it is .230 amps not 2.3 amps.
Spend the arvo checking everything again. I put the multi meter across the back of each fuse whilst they were plugged in and got not voltage reading on any of them, I used a clamp maeter on the strater and alt POS wire and nothing shown.

a couple of weeks ago I heard a fan type noise behind the glove box. So I have pulled out the Fuel burning heater fuse and the fan fuse for the FBH also.
So will see what happens tomorrow morning if it is flat again.
Next step will be to remove the battery and check the relay for the wipers. It's too cold and hail stoney today to continue further.

Hmm. 230 milliamps shouldn't flatten a battery overnight. Sounds about right for a modern car.
Dodgy battery? Cold weather finds them out.
How do I know that? 2deg and 5cm snow here. Defender won't start.

I don't think its the battery, as the old one had this problem and the new one alos is doing iit

Suppose it could be a randomly sticking relay.
Anyway anything that flattens a car battery overnight has to be generating heat somewhere.

i had a fault come up on the air suspension the other week, something about pressure, I can't remember the actual fault code, but googling stated usually caused by a compressor problem. I have ordered a rebuild kit to renew the piston rings , I thought the compressor might be coming on during the night, so I pulled the rely for the compressor and left it out overnight, but it made no difference. The wiper park relay behind the battery box can also cause drain I have read, some thing else i need to check,

Hi Mario,

I had a relay fault with SLS in my disco that killed the battery at some very inconvenient times untilI found it. It also burnt out the SLS compressor.

I would pull the SLS relay and fuse completely and let it sit for some time and see what happens. Obviously keep checking on it though.

Keep an ear out for compressor levelling activity when it should be “asleep”.
