"Responsiveness gremlins" has now translated into low compression or some such I'm advised. Now we have a new engine on order. 4 to 5 weeks away which will mean 3 months off the road for the D5. ****ed off am I!

Sorry to hear that, they could at least give you a D5 loaner instead of a Sport. Or even a Defender.

A sorry saga this has turned out to be.

Last week JLR coughed up (unsolicited from me) the lease repayments for 3 months which I thought was good customer service and PR.

Got the D5 back on Wednesday complete with a new engine, all fixed, test driven multiple times, etc. Lasted < 24 hours and the same fault occurred. Zero power, stalling, restricted performance, back on the tilt tray to the dealer. I would post the video of the car in fault that I took at the time but its not fit for public viewing. I did send it to JLR and the dealer who did the work as a way of "expressing" my disappointment.

Now waiting on another loaner to arrive today.

    Not happy.

Gee that was good of them.

But as for the rest of the saga, very annoying,i won't comment further, but I bet you can guess my thoughts.

That's where my mind is at right now. QLD does have lemon laws although I'm reluctant to go down that road just yet. Interested though, to know anyone's informed opinion on the matter but please don't post anything here that could be detrimental to the cause.

Maybe drop keys off and drive off in a new defender.

If, and that's a big if depending on the outcome of this current drama, a Defender is in my future it'll be a MkII to avoid the bleeding edge of technology.

I have no experience of lemon laws but you’ll do well to understand consumer rights. See this link Car Lemon Laws in Australia - Are You Protected? | Canstar

The prognosis now is the intake manifold which was not part of the new engine. Ex stock Australia so hopefully this is it and we can get back on the road.
