Some have been leaking from the join between the 2 halves. The seal is an o-ring but it's risky dismantling an aging plastic assembly to replace the o-ring. Also small plastic pipes have broken off, either as part of a housing or on attached piping that's not sold seperately, although some people have made-up alternate solutions for failed attached fittings.

    Thanks Graeme and Pedro_The _Swift

    What I know so far:

was it an instant overheating issue or low coolant alarm??
Neither of these. I could smell coolant after every drive, but there were no drips/rivers coming from underneath. I was also adding 200 mL of distilled water to the expansion tank once a week. It was gonna fail sooner or later.

This is something I would normally have repaired myself, but due to a health issue, I've trusted Roadbend (in Perth) to carry out the repair. They report having done several of these repairs. Paraphrasing them: "The 4.4 V8 Diesel is a bulletproof motor, but it's cooling system is it's Achilles Heel." I'm told, with this repair done, I'll be good for another 100K+ km.

As Graeme mentioned, some other plastic parts break, and there's no exact replacement parts available. Roadbend have devised a repair using various sections of parts, piping, etc to replace the affected area.

I'll endeavour to get the details you seek, and post back here in a coupla days.

    As promised ...

Well, 'Grover the Range Rover' is back with a fully functioning cooling system.

No pics available of the breakage but the description by Roadbend was "found the thermostat housing to be leaking and the plastic section on the rearward heater hoses to have cracked and be leaking."

Part numbers are as Graeme mentioned earlier - pic attached.

    Thanks again for everyone's help.

    Kind regards,

    Tallyhochap.

Has anyone had any luck sourcing one of these? I’ve been told mine is now also leaking.

    Hi Joshuare,

Roadbend (in Perth) managed to get one for me from their sources in the U.K.

Other members reckon the shortage of these parts should be over by now.

    Hope you find one!

    Cheers,

    Tallyhochap
