Interesting article with an American JLR exec interviewed

I think the only bit that is written a little wrong is where it says it will be moving away from heavy duty components at the start of the article.

Then towards the end it says heavy duty components will still be part of the new Defender.

    Interesting about the accessories also

Also makes good points about it's versatility capability and drivability.
The pic of the vehicle on the hill is the most D4/Defenderish it’s looked so far. But the article is more pure speculation and it’s vague comments by JLR executives like this that beggar belief: “Something about the Defender connects with customers,” Eberhardt said. “We want to capitalize on that”. ...so what is that ‘something’?

I hope so. He probably means heavy components as in live axle...which are also heavy duty. I don't think there is any doubt that bushing aside the d4 suspension was strong. The article makes it clear it will be traction control and not lockers like J**p products (dodged the swear filter nicely there). I just hope they do a better job of waterproofing connections than D3 and D4 (I know of but don't believe the wading depth claims as "she'll be right" especially with age on the connectors etc...but the horse has well and truly bolted).

    Cheers

Not much else you can do ...unless you’ve got the inside running on a camo tester!

Heres the pic, with the quote under it

"Traditional off-road metrics such as a high ground clearance and durable components will be part of the new Defender, executives and engineers said. (Photo: Jaguar Land Rover)"

    Won’t be retro...

It does look like a D4 in that pic.

Maybe JLR marketing are attracting the interest of D4 owners who don’t like the D5.

After this long road of staged media leaks and spy shots, JLR rip the core flute panelling & urban camo off and it harks back to a Defender look, but with the option of Lux interior similar to a D4.

100% d4 with wide body kit, I think that was brief to camo guys.

Your on the money imo, but full lux will be optional, comfort will be standard.
