    Yeah my take is its just to hold the camo fake bonnet down so it doesn't fly off during testing at freeway speeds.

    seem to be some slightly clearer shots of the spare tyre - can anybody make out the tyre size yet?

    Instead I used my squinting super powers

    My guess of the spare size on that shorty is
    255 / ?? 18

    Seems feasible to run 18s on a burn around the ring?

    Haha..not sure, i would have thought they would go 20s at the ring, but i suppose they would test all sizes.

    Maybe but i doubt it, 18s are a good size as discussed already above, medium profile, people are doing fine with 20s on other brands with decent sized rubber.
    18s seem to be the new minimum for modern 5 star safety rated full size 4x4s, just have to make sure enough rubber.

    The SWB mentioned above in link has decent sized rubber for a factory 4x4, as does this one snow testing.

    Nurburgring in the vids, they are testing their big wheel, big brake, high power option and I'm sure other options.
