It’s interesting - spending time in America and Canada, so far I have seen one Defender. ONE. And that was in a car lot....

LR have said that one of their target audiences is America.

Which I find interesting, as from what I have seen so far, the yanks don’t know a lot about Defenders...

I have seen plenty of LR4’s, D5’s, Evoques and many Range Rovers.

I am eagerly anticipating what LR comes up with.

I certainly don’t think that it will be a work horse.

Everything that I have seen so far indicates a better D4...

Anyways - I can’t wait to see the finished product. Won’t be retro...

Likewise I spent 6 months in USA and saw ONE LandRover, an 83-84 Ninety (ID'd by the series style door handles)

Defenders were only imported into USA until 1993 , And they only started making them from 1990 , so you have to be lucky to find one.

99.9% of Americans have no idea what a Defender is , JLR banking on USA customers to snap up its new Defender is wishful thinking. Americans wan't Electric Cars or Big "PickUps"

Yeah fair points, defender has a cult following in the states due to its low numbers an uniqueness.

And there you go again - just because he disagrees with you, you claim he isn’t adding value to the conversation. Total BS, and you should really watch what you are posting. You are the first to complain when you don’t like something others say, but struggle to let others say what they want without back handing their comments as ‘Not of value’ or ‘Inappropriate’.

About time you grew up and understand that all comments here both for and against the subject matter are all as valid as one another.

You seem to be the the only one that seems to think others comments that are in conflict of your opinions are personal attacks.

Oh, and I’d love to know if JLR are paying you as a Social Media ‘Influencer’ here on this forum because everything you post is so one sided and Fanboyish that it is the only conclusion I can come to. Oh, don’t bother answering that, it’s rhetorical as I know you’d deny it no matter what the situation was...

Interesting and good point, though the two seperate non LR guys that videod the new defender under wraps at moab picked it as a new defender and both seemed pretty excited, as do most of the other guys that have snapped it on this thread in the states. Defender is pretty big in social media and ECD has well and truly put it into the mainstream, news articles on them on tons of US sites and mags.

I would challenge that most americans would know what a defender is if you asked, although i agree given the numbers would seem highly unlikely usually.

Won’t be retro... I thought we weren't allowed personal attacks on here? or shorten swear words to abbreviations? Or are mods above the rules?

Okay. Defenders were sold from 93 to 97 only in North America.

Second. All soft top models had half doors so not 83-84. Also all military trucks had half doors. There are thousands of ex British Defenders around as the largest British military base is in Canada.

    Then there are imported trucks.

From all the information I have gleaned from this thread I have come to the conclusion that the Defender as everyone knows and Loves is Dead as far as JLR are concerned and the New "Defender" will be nothing like its predecessors.
As far as I can see the new "Defender" will be a Defender in name only and in fact it will be more like a Discovery and hopefully it will be a better disco than the D5.
What I cannot understand is all the bitching and arguing over something that doesn't actually exist yet, Lets wait and see what JLR comes up with so that we can have an "Informed" discussion as to the merits or lack of merits of the vehicle JLR comes up with.
Everything pertaining to the new Defender in this thread is simply fantasy and conjecture Nothing about the new Defender that has been published Anywhere is Hard Fact.
