As far as I can see the new "Defender" will be a Defender in name only and in fact it will be more like a Discovery and hopefully it will be a better disco than the D5.
What I cannot understand is all the bitching and arguing over something that doesn't actually exist yet, Lets wait and see what JLR comes up with so that we can have an "Informed" discussion as to the merits or lack of merits of the vehicle JLR comes up with.
Everything pertaining to the new Defender in this thread is simply fantasy and conjecture Nothing about the new Defender that has been published Anywhere is Hard Fact.
I guess saying the new defender will be name only would be like saying the disco died when it went from the D2 to the D3,many modern disco owners would disagree. Or like saying a 200 series is name only cruiser to a 60series.

If its on record from JLR, or on a pilot, its hard fact or pretty close to it. For example Air susp, Terrain response, approach/depart angles, SWB, LWB, large side opening rear door with RWC, side vents, hybrid option, multiple wheel/tyre/brake options, petrol and diesel (heard), utilitarian to luxury..the list goes on and on.

Much can be learnt before it's released, its half the fun and keep spy photographers in a job Won’t be retro...

I did go back 12 pages and funnily enough YOU have actually thanked some of Rambling's posts, so maybe you need to check yourself before making statements like the above. posts 2145 & 2155 if you doubt it. I didn't bother going back any further as I have important things to do as a mod than this sort of thing.

    Cheers Ean

You are correct maybe every single was a bit too specific(99% haha Won’t be retro...), I try to be nice to people even if they are not to me, ever.
I think the only like I have ever got from rambling is when I took the mickey out of myself, but again could be wrong.

Im not perfect either for sure, but this thread would be a war if i didn't.

It seems we are an emotional bunch us Land Rover fans, some will like the new defender some won't that's fine, doesn't mean we have to call eachother names and hate on eachother because we have different ideas of what is a "good 4x4"

We are all connected by the same brand because although in different ways we love it!

Aggh, so much politics..lets just all be nice to each other and there won't be any problems, myself included.

Having said that you are spending time trawling around and posting pics, videos and info about the new Defender so credit to you for keeping things interesting and I don't mind admitting that your enthusiasm is infectious at times.

But at the end of the day most people like to keep it real and I can see why an overly techie Apple iwatch style approach to the new Defender under the misty eyed gaze of a flamboyant CEO wearing designer pinkery isn't going to do it for a lot of people on this site and they comment accordingly. If we .cant criticise a company that we know so well and who so deserves a few serves without being 'called' on it or having a long post with links to LR marketing propaganda there is something wrong.

I still think it is likely the new Defender will be a good thing but some cynicism is to be expected and even applauded. We dont want to be a county that is star struck like the US.

I have to say that I think Scotts post is one of the most sensible and balanced in this thread and is model for how to let someone what you think in a nice way.

Perhaps those on the negative side can be a little less belligerent and those on the positive side a little less one eyed.

There is really nothing here that should be having folks get so tetchy.

I think we can all acknowledge the effort that BR has put into bringing new info into the thread that otherwise may have gone unnoticed. For some that may mean further disappointment but for others it's exciting.

PS BR, throwing around the 'troll' label is not a good look. A mod is not going to undertake that sort of posting. Step back a bit and let the mods do their job, it's not up to you to call people out or shut them down. If it's left by the mods then it's OK. Oh, one more thing, I'm not sure other members like being blown kisses so much, it might make them a feel bit more like. Pick another smiley .

and finally, keep posting up your stuff, it's great. This whole new Defender thing would be boring without it!
    Cheers,

Agreed yeah liked that comment and Good advice from you thanks, and cheers for the positive comments, ahh the little kiss smiley, its just me saying, still like ya mate dispite what ya just said, nothing more Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro.... Like I said im not perfect, so sorry if that offended anyone.

Also a big shout out to all the other regular contributors in this thread, its a huge thread and without all the positive contributions and reasonable comments it wouldn't be the worlds best resource on it.
It is not my intention to have any sort of praise for my contributions here I'm just pretty excited and happy to share what I have found, there are plenty of others than have provided a huge amount of info and insight. And being challenged respectfully is great, it ensures what we are all posting is as factual as possible.

I think it's appalling that on a Land Rover forum someone that is positive about Land Rover has to be a PR rep. Some people need remember where we are and what we drive. Is it OK to love Land Rovers yes. Is it ok to be a Land Rover "fan boy", yes.

We are all volunteers here, I think we need to remember that and yes we love the mods for keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes and yes they are not perfect either.

I'm on some American LR forums and for sure this forum has the best reputation for reasonable comments.

That picture looks interesting with the clearest delineation of the camo that I've seen. I can picture a series silhouette above the crease line where the camo is applied. Thinking a series 2 look with curved guard tops extended through the door line. Maybe even a bonnet that is not parallel with the guards at the front?

I think i understand where your coming from, however it still does my head in, only thing that makes sense to me is door tops and work out from there. Guessing will have bonnet bulge of some kind, big guards look real.
