If the swear filter didn't pick it up, help the owners and remove it yourself, better yet articulate without swearing in the first place.

    2. Saying the defender doesn't have its heritage in series landrovers is beyond belief, its about the only car in history that hasn't changed its shape much in 70 years Won’t be retro.... I know you love your series and i respect that but, really?

    3. As for no vested interest, are you on record that you will never buy a new genuine part again?

The forums swear filter picks up all words that Google requires to maintain its G rating so not sure what you find offensive in Goingbush’s posts.

And on the other topic, the Defender name is new and shouldn’t be used to describe pre 91 models IMO either. It was only after the Discovery was released in 89 that caused LR to change the name to avoid confusion and the 91 models of the 90 and 110 were named ‘Defender’ for the first time. Tarring them all with the same modern name is bull**** IMO and shows how much contempt LR has for its history and the owners of older models.

So more than 40 years of NOT being called Defender now makes it ok for the name that was only used for 20 odd years to be used for them? I think not and if I said I owned a 1976 Defender I’d get laughed at - and rightly so, it’s the same as calling a Kingswood a Commodore.

I agree with GB 100% - LR are ‘Dickheads’ IMO as well and should be laughed at for saying what they did.

Ok, hmm, was thinking CTIS, but your theory sounds more likely, cheers.

It depends how you look at it. The way I see it you have the original landrover generations , essentially series 1 - 4

There was no shared model name for the 90/110/130 (4th gen). This was not a problem until the Land Rover Discovery came out. At which point the defender model name was assigned to the 90/110/130 'series'. So 'Defender' is often referred to as the model name for all land rover 90/110/130 after series 3 without ridicule.

I have a LR90 which gets referred to as a Defender all the time! Most people switch off if you get nit picky about it.
