Live axle clearance? As in under diff clearance? Ifs/it's has more, only limited by tyre size. Have a look at some of the dash off road YouTube vids comparing the y62 and 200 with solid rear diff.

IF JLR were to bring out a ute with at least as much Grunt and as reliable and as tough as a 79 series then I would get Excited because I imagine that the JLR product would be better engineered, This I would definitely call a DEFENDER.
The 2020 just another SUV wagon and much the same as all the other SUV wagons So quite frankly it doesn't deserve the title of "Defender".
Despite assurances of a 130 trayback model by an Australian JLR representative
It certainly won’t be coming soon
And is likely dependent on success of the SUV (maybe we should buy one to bolster sales so they make a 130 DC!!! Hahahah)
I had a D1 for many years and a few hundred thousand kays. It was soft in my assessment compared to my first 130. An ex forestry ex farm Ute that had been rolled twice before I gave it a hard time for 200,oookm
Deefers are NOT perfect but they have attributes for seriously rough going that are hard to beat. Narrow track, narrow vertical panels that don’t bulge out asking to be belted.
Solid chassis with sills and panels above the bottom of the chassis
All sumps above the chassis rails.
If they release a 130DC it will be Ford Ranger than Defender or 79
It’s just what it is
Probably a shed loaf more expensive than a Ranger !!!
But only marginally better than a ranger.
Commercial versions of the new Defender will be very utilitarian and able to carry out many forms of work....says BR
how do you know this?
utilitarian commercial versions?
the photo of that disguised vehicle with a tandem trailer and a few logs on it is rubbish , what's that supposed to represent? My wife's Subaru XV can pull that , my Ranger would laugh at it.
you know you can't make a silk purse from a sows ear and vice versa.
a utilitarian commercial version of what you have been raving about....and "falling in love" with is a new vehicle , I hope not meaning another 2 years of this.....
Solid chassis with sills and panels above the bottom of the chassis
All sumps above the chassis rails.
...yes...this is so dam important
it appears to have been forgotten
could be the total downfall of this mystery vehicle
I was bloody impressed in a recent vid the LROR boys did with a Y62 in it, it was so bloody smooth with the Kinetic type suspension, did it so easily.
The difference with a solid axle is that the ground clearance is consistent, whereas wishbones or swing axles at full bump can have that diff cradle bottoming out quickly
