Hmmm, ok, well i have been following this thread, and are yet to see why anything would be reported to mods. This is my 13th year here, and i have unfortunately noticed how this place is falling apart, so many good members have left, and i think it might be time for me to hang up my boots too.

Now back on topicWon’t be retro....

V8 petrol defender would be nice, would consider one definitely if the price was reasonable.

I am very sorry to read you feel that way , and that's not my moderator hat talking .

The moderators have wondered about the amount of reports and the reasons why as well , but something needed to be said to try and get things back on track.

X 2 for the right priced V8 defender

    Cheers Ean

A Diesel V8 Defender with "Live" axels and priced so that you don't have to live in Toorak to be able to afford one would see me lining up to put my money down on one

    No more diesels for me.
What i would love is what my patrol has in every way, but in a landrover guise.

    I have a 4l petrol V8 in my D2a and a 4.5l diesel V8 in my 79 series.
Both trucks weigh in at about the same Yet the 79 series diesel V8 has FAR more "Grunt" than my D2a has and .5l in engine size wouldn't make that much difference.

Yes, my patrol is 5.6L, 300kw, and as economical as my isuzu county. (12L/100km) It uses, 2L/100 more than our old 2.0l twin turbo amarok, and our old 300tdi disco1. Long live modern petrol v8's.

I’m considering unsubscribing too Vern, unless there are new rules implemented against more than politics, including, bigotry, racism, sexism and gender bias. When it’s veiled in humour it’s just as bad. I’m tired of being told I’m being PC for standing up for basic human rights in civil society.

Debating the virtues or not of a vehicle or brand should be an entirely non-personal topic and should not be made personal. Those who take it personally are missing the point of the discussion.

One of the best virtues of Defenders which has always set them apart from other large HD 4x4s has been their frugality with fuel. I hope the next Defender really moves with the times and goes full EV. Our climate is on the brink of catastrophe. Our planet needs to be better respected too.

Frugality.... ok.... so the times right now for EV = ~400km range with a battery pack that should not be supercharged too often, and shouldnt be fully charged or fully disharged too often. Failure to abide by these guidlines can rapidly reduce capacity. OK for the average commute, but not for distance. Yes it will be frugal, but 12 hours on your home solar for 400km or range is not going to get you around the country in a hurry.

The times you are looking for aint here yet.

If you want to save the planet - walk. If you want to drive to work/shops, maybe get a little EV - you certainly dont need a big 4x4 for that.
