Me too, I don't recall Henry Ford going to all this bollocks with his prototype Model T.

I agree that there is an awe full of of spin (BS)
About this release but maybe that’s because blackrangie is right
They are worried about the chineses copying

Toyota doesn’t worry about that because they just make enough rubbish at the right price point to not make copying worthwhile

And let’s face it - why would you try to copy a Tojo?

Why would they worry about the Chinese copying them?

We know what happened last time they tried that, and the ruling set a precedent.

Surely they wouldn't try that again.

LR is cleverly using a sophisticated social media campaign to build anticipation for the Defender by releasing pics and sending out camouflaged pre-production vehicles to get us talking. It's working very successfully.

Henry didn’t have to compete with the Chinese enterprise machine that likes to copy stuff (or looks like it) and sell it at a lower price.

That is true enough & it is a completely different world today, albeit it is still sphere shaped.

If that is the case they are doing a horrible job. Beyond these enthusiast forums nobody has noticed.

Those Moab runs are super easy. Can run them in 2wd. The traction is very high. The fact that they were lifting wheels and losing traction shows how poor is the basic design.
