IF JLR were to bring out a ute with at least as much Grunt and as reliable and as tough as a 79 series then I would get Excited because I imagine that the JLR product would be better engineered, This I would definitely call a DEFENDER.
The 2020 just another SUV wagon and much the same as all the other SUV wagons So quite frankly it doesn't deserve the title of "Defender".

I had a D1 for many years and a few hundred thousand kays. It was soft in my assessment compared to my first 130. An ex forestry ex farm Ute that had been rolled twice before I gave it a hard time for 200,oookm

Deefers are NOT perfect but they have attributes for seriously rough going that are hard to beat. Narrow track, narrow vertical panels that don’t bulge out asking to be belted.

If they release a 130DC it will be Ford Ranger than Defender or 79
