The New Defender

This is a worry - so what happens when there's a total electrical shutdown which has happened (ver rarely) with D3/4's? No brakes? !

It would probably be the opposite? Electrical energisation unlocks the brakes, so electrical failure would lock them on?

So it's not as good as a Puma Defender (62.9:1) but much better than any Toyota, Nissan or Mitsubishi product.

With my L322 I can check and clear faults with an IID tool and smart phone. I assume this will be available for the new Defender.

Hopefully the electrical engineers who designed the new Defender built in redundancy and resilience. The electrics on my 12 year old L322 have been very good other than a failed alternator.

Even the current 70 series Toyota won’t run without an alternator.

I like the straight 6 turbo petrol [emoji3]

But remember the Puma was a manual, the new Defender being an auto means that there is a further multiplying effect as a result of the torque converter.

So looks like the 18's OEM size is 275/65/18.

Not a bad size,quite a few brands have this size available in their range.

Probably more common in the US than here,though.
