LR has moved the Defender into a different category of vehicle - luxury SUV. I'm sure it's a great vehicle, but it's in a different class to the previous Defender. I'm sure JLR has done it's market research and knows who will buy it, but it's not the same people who bought the previous Defender, I think.
If I were looking for a new vehicle of that type I would have to look for something like an Isuzu D-Max or Holden Colorado.
I was looking at a D-Max parked near us today and thinking, if I got the specifications right, it could probably meet our needs, at a significant discount on the cost of a new Defender.
Fortunately I don't have to make that choice.

If you're interested in a Colorado, I'm selling my 2016 Z71 with stacks of extras .. my next car will be a Defender.

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't see any reason to change my Defender.

Any write ups yet from independent motor journalists on how it handles off road? Landrover seem to like releasing pics of it on muddy grass patches or big puddles. The New Defender

Given that production line testers are the only ones on the road atm, i don't think we are at that stage yet.

Well the bond video shows it coping a hiding offroad, then there is this.

I hope that this bit isn't like this bit.

It may leave open the possibility that the RAI on Defender could actually be sealed against water.

You would certainly hope not...otherwise in 10 years time the self-annealing tape would be getting a work out.

    Cheers
