I had a look at Black Bill's Perentie prototype and they are different to the ones on my SIII. His go from the back to the aluminium tub over the can then down to the back side of the chassis bracket.

My SIII brackets seem to have a strap that goes from the front of the chassis bracket over the can back down to the back of the chassis bracket. and would therefore need to be about 20" longer.

So I don't know if the production Perenties have the same as BB's or mine. Does anyone know the answer?
Production Perenties have the same strap as that fitted to Black Bills Perentie so they are different to the Series 3 type... not that it helps answer your initial question...

May I be cheeky enough to suggest that perhaps the corps/unit sign, (Red/yellow RAAC one) should be on the drivers/off side whereas the other mysterious REMLR one would, in this case, be deemed the div sign and as a result carried on the passenger/near side.
    Looking very good.
Fastidious is a word that springs to mind on this thread!

    Thanks Glen

    Will swap plates around.

Fastidious, I didn't even take it out yesterday and haven't been speeding lately even in the RRc.

P.S. Just to follow up, I may be anachronistic, however I feel if one is going to present a vehicle like this it is a small thing to do it correctly, while to do otherwise is an insult to the regiment it purports to represent and all those who have actually served.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Took the FFR out for a drive yesterday afternoon. 350 Km to see if the recent maintenance improved things at all.

Steering is much better and now not a task to drive, seat cushions could be improved as they are a bit too soft and lacking lumbar support. Brake pedal stays where it should be and wheels don't lock up since all the pads were adjusted.

    Couldn't find 5th gear a few times.

All-in-all am happy with the drive, but have decided the vehicle is a one speed wonder, same speed in top gear whether it's up hill or down dale. The B doubles that would rush past us and nearly blow us off the side of the road then disappear around the next bend, would be caught up at the next decent hill. Need to fit an adjustable main jet before Corowa.

Nice work dianna. I know what the straps look like, but I don't have any, I jsut have some plastic webbing strap and some buckles to hold my jerry cans down.

I noticed that you are also missing the wooden rubbing blocks on your jerry can holders!!

its too easy, a disposal store, some long pat 37 webbing straps cut and rivetted, well thats what mine look like.

got to show off my 1943 jerry can,

the buckle is brass the same as the ones one the pattern 37 webing

the rubbing block ( its 7 ply, marine by the look of it) see how the strap is rivetted

ps the steps are 1" by one inch angle, on mine there are the remains of two one each side of the pintle point. Most FFR's only had one on the drivers side of the hook. and yes they are standard.
