Gog sat on his own 4 wheels for the first time in months only to have the other two wheels amputated several hours later.
On Friday (finally) I was able to complete the conversion of the front swivels from uni joints to CV joints. The delays happened when firstly the ENV spline, wouldn't fit through the Stage 1 axle seal, so the retainers had to be machined. Then when wanting to reassemble the swivels, we initially couldn't find replacement Stage 1 Railco bushes, so we went with taper roller bearing conversion only to find that the machining of the kit (ordered for a stage 1) was for a standard SIII. Thankfully All Four X 4 had a pair of Stage 1 swivel kits on sale at the LR Expo so they were fitted on one side, but I lacked sufficient shims to set up the LHS swivel correctly, so postal delays put another fortnight behind. Then a Land Rover musical chairs weekend added further the the time lag.
Friday day-off and the brakes were fitted, hubs re-assembled and swivels lubricated. New shock absorber bushes and back onto his front wheels. Then new master cylinder :)
So he's on his wheels all Friday night and Saturday when he gets his new Engel fridge (to replace the blown Electrolux 3 way). :) But just as things were happening, more Land Rover musical chairs, but locally this time and mainly to accommodate another Mk3 Inter (not mine). :(
Sunday comes along and Gog loses his rear wheels. Firstly to replace wheel cylinders and to discover he really needs new shoes as well, but mainly to remove the rear spring packs to have them re-set/re-built so he rides level rather than bum down. Springs are now off ready to go to the spring works on Friday.
Time is really getting short for Corowa 2011 though!
Can he go to the "Year of the British and Eupopean Vehicle" seeing that he is a South African Land Rover and not a British one?
