or did you have a different answer in mind?

    LOL.

Nah I didn't mean military military people, like yourself, but civilian military buffs who collect military vehicles/trailers and get upset when other people propose to modify them.

Do they use them to carry more stuff? Or just tow them around empty to look the part? I suspect it's more a hoarding process to prevent less enthusiastic civilian kind from putting tents on them.

    Carrying stuff around.

...usually other pieces of military history (such as 11x11 tents, Army generators etc etc). Usually too and from military history events. Usually towed by a miltarily historic vehicle.

    It's a sickness I tells ya!

PS - nice try Diana, but I think most people on here are well onto you! (evidently though, some are not quite there!)

    Arrghhh NSW RTA

The NSW RTA doesn't recognise the VIN so they won't register the thing! Have been back to Haulmark in Sydney and then up to head office in Rocklea, calls back and forth to confirm dates and numbers and now its hope and see how long they take to send the info to the RTA and then how long the RTA take to process the data before I can register it. Grrrrrrr!

    Sooooo frustrating.

IAddit:Spoke to more people - told to go back to the Registry, now we find out that the VIN has been cancelled by Qld. Transport, because: it wasn't being used, so QT decided to clean it out of the system. In fact it was being used - by the Australian Army!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

There are times when I do searches and completely unrelated threads appear - some which include gems like this one:

If it were the Royal Navy in Nelson's time I should have been whipped, keel hauled and made to walk the plank.

No one even hinted at what I was planning was tantamount to treason!

You are all far more restrained than I could have been.

I suspect the whole crux of it all was the bit I bolded. That's what you really wanted, wasn't it?

BTW - did you ever get it registered?

Edit: ignore the registration question - I now see your post re rego was only a day old.

The rego stuff has been going on for 9 days now - first it was finding someone in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney to do a blue slip - no one even looked at the trailer. Some on the list given to me by the RTA had their blue slip authority canceled by the RTA others wanted to give me an appointment Thursday week! I eventually had to go out to Moorebank to get one done.

As for the actual Rego - it has now been two weekends where I wanted to use the trailer and still no rego. Hopefully Monday Haulmark at Rocklea Qld can get Queensland Transport to un-cancel the VIN (and presumably the VIN for all the Halumark PT1-1.2s)

    Finally have it registered!

Darren at Haulmark, Rocklea Qld has been most helpful!

They were able to negotiate with Queensland Transport to un-cancel the VIN on the trailer, so I don't have to modify the trailer with a Police number. Unfortunately it was only for this one trailer, it seems that the remainder of the ones in the Army still have their VIN cancelled in the civilian databases throughout Australia. Haulmark is going to take this up with Defense Materiel Organisation to see if they can advise the civilian authorities of all the trailers etc currently in Army hands, lest everyone have similar problems at least for VIN issued in Queensland.

So the thing to take from this for anyone else who has a Haulmark trailer is to contact the manufacturer a few days before you go the the registry office.

G'day Lotza, nice trailer, am keen to have a look at these trailers next time they come up for sale.

Have been told their Tare weigh is 450kgs...if you don't mind me asking is that what the data plate on yours says?

I know they are built well but not sure on their specs..

    Thanks in advance.

    Ted.

yes the plated GTM is 1200Kg with 750Kg being payload leaving 450Kg tare.

Of course this in a military design and military spec and likely a civilian specification of the trailer would be a 1500Kg payload. Or at least that is what happens with trucks and you can get them re-certified.

Hi Diana - if you're around....

There's one of these on ebay atm and am aware of the problems you had with rego...doesn't seem to be insurmountable ?

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

.... obviously wondering about if the price ($3.85k) is ok so your views on that would be appreciated as well

... & I'm wondering if they are galv throughout

    thanks
