Sometimes they have been accident damaged, sometimes they have been dissasembled for cleaning and not reassembled. Sometimes they are salvageable, sometimes they have irrepairable chassis damage and major body damage. Some have been left out in the weather with no bonnet, air cleaner etc. A few forum members have rebuilt incomplete examples though.
I bought an inoperable/incomplete from Hilton Pollock in Colo for $3k.
It had worked in East Temor and was stripped for cleaning on demob and not put back together.
It needed lots of bits and pieces but the chassis, engine, and drive train are all good. They were replaced not long before it was demobed I think.
Your best bet is to get Bearman's (on AULRO) reference book and check it out completely before buying or bidding.
Bodywork, dash, interior is mostly Landrover and canopies, seat covers and the like can be bought new or second hand.
Hope this helps.
More Perenties in Perth Greys yard.
Finally got a Perentie 4x4 RFSV, picked it up today from grays depo perth with car trailer, lost a spotlight canvas cover on Tonkin hwy some where, wind must have blew it off ..bummer...Ill try to look for it 2morrow-dont like my chances..otherwise need to get one made up somewhere.:)
also
# need to re-bolt roof rack on canvas top-need to find those rubber mounts...maybe able industries has them.
# passenger and drivers doors need better fitting-seem all crooked..
...with those low km's, you'd think the doors would be better fitting..
# it reads 3300 klms on odometer from 2010 to 2015 in log service book, wonder what the true km reading was from 1991 to 2010 was...I don't think the odometer is correct, maybe the army resets them for some reason?
great vehicle thou, all in good order so far...cant wait to get it licensed..
also want to get a army no 5 trailers, those one's in grays auction darwin last week sold cheaper, but the freight is around $2000 from darwin to perth quoted :o
thanks
robbo:)
There's an eBay seller in Qld who's selling lots or Perentie parts I got the rubbers for the roof racks from him.
Just search eBay it should come up
Yeah I'd like to know the mystery of the odometers to:confused:
