Does anyone have experience how the viewing at grays online works...the perentie auction in perth starts the 14th may to the 20th may...Viewing in Perth is on the 19th may, second last day off the auction. yet auction starts on the 14th online..?

is this legal...I thought you can view prior to the auction, but grays auctions said no....this sounds silly...must be some sort of " get you in quick" ?

G'day Robbo. Yes I have experience.
I cannot comment on the legality of forcing prospective buyers to get in quick at the last minute.
    Cheers, BDave.

Hi Dave, could Iask your experience please then?

    bid early or later?

    I believe- bid after viewing?...

but I read somewhere in your eBook to bid early.. is the key to success...prior to viewing....Grays online system only allows a day towards to end of auction-too view...

I'm not certain which way to go..as we all want a descent working perentie..

    thanks
    Dave

Try and get the first bid (or close to) on everything you may be interested in, then, in the final stages of the auction, you are still there.
If you don't do this, after the auction closes, the bidding may continue but only for those who have previously bidded.
For mine, the final hammer fell about 45 minutes after the auction ended.

    It seemed an eternity.

I think the way the bidding works has changed since you or I bought ours Mick, it used to be the first bidder gets preference if the highest bid is equal to the first bidder's final bid. Now, I believe it isn't that way-with the first of the two highest bids being given preference, though I haven't looked closely for a while.
I would now suggest you do view the vehicles if you can, and then bid accordingly prior to closing time. Mick is still right in that the bidding can go on for minutes or hours after the posted closing time, if bids are still being made.

I still bid on items. Just haven't won anything of late.

My understanding is that if there is a bid in the last 10 minutes before the auction closes it will stay open after the scheduled close.

Not aware if it adds another 10 minutes or some other timeframe, but each time there is a bid within 10 minutes it stays open again until there is no bid within 10 minutes. Or that is my understanding.

The result no sniping in the final seconds and bid 11 minutes before the close.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

That's correct lotsa. I think I've seen it that the bidding continues until it is 'resolved'.
Have seen vehicles jump several thousand dollars in that period!

Yes. You can bid 11 minutes before the end to be in it.
