BDave would be interested to get your view on the Snr commander in the Brisbane auction. I had a look at it today and have an opinion about a few aspects. I had high expectations based on the photos but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be and I am a bit concerned re the electrics with the 24v alternator not working and spinning freely by hand, there were also some odd looking welded "fixes" on the chassis on the drivers side front and passenger side rear which concerned me and the steering was very heavy which I am assuming was just the lack of air in the tyres. I also noticed a few deteriorated pipes in the engine bay which would need attention. All of those combined with the fact that it has had a $10k respray in 2008, I think I might give this one a body swerve.

The other 4 door (48007) looked to be in better condition so may bid on that one.

Bid well on that one. It has provenance.
I understand it is the last of the trails vehicles.
I may yet bid on it.

Nothing stopping you starting a thread.
If you put it in the MV section, I might even make it a sticky.

Welby, I could be glib and say neither
Both Brisbane RFSVs show a number of chassis repairs.
660 is very original from a collection standpoint. It even has the original seats (RFSV had 3 in their lives). Canopy is 7:10, not the original one, but.
686 is loaded! All 3spares, rear seat, 2jacks(must be where mine ended up), basic CES and an operators manual.
BUT! 82 000ks and 1600hrs of repair time!!
    Life is tough in Bamaga.

Weeds, you have mail. Didn't miss much. There are plenty more for your defiling hands to lead astray

B, going on prices for the better SCs I would expect it to fetch about $12-14K. Remember, it is still one of only 11 in existence.
48 007, as Mick says, is vehicle number 7 delivered to the ADF. It is the last of the Initial Production Vehicles (IPV), like a proof of concept. Expect spirited bidding.

Mick, I was TIC. This thread is enough.
    Cheers, BDave.

Your call but keep your observations and opinions coming. I am reading with much enthusiasm.
Just been paid so all cashed up now. 007 would be my pick at Minto.

    hey barefoot dave & co,

i was glad to have ran into you dave, in brisbane today. thanks again for your time that you were sharing with us bargain hunters. you truly are a well of information! it was also good to hear that the buyer's guide is approaching final proofing and that there are still plenty of landies to bid for with the help of this upcoming guidance.

with the experience of already two auctions, i'd say that the brisbane lot is probably better than the first time around. this time there are a few vehicles without logs, which is quite a turn off though. the log books themselves are worth a visit, the details are amazing.

prices will most likely climb higher than i can afford, but it's good to see the vehicles and slowly get educated. as dave explained to me, the disposal contract goes on for four more years, so there should be many more opportunities to find the keeper.

    cheers,

    pasi
