    Too much green paint !!

Like you i'm looking to grab one of my old mounts, but i'm not expecting to see them turn up in the east.

    G'Day Welby.
Mate, there was a LOT of red/black/ tan patches on the chassis'. 3 lines of weld on one patch.
Easily picked as Gulf cars due to the bauxite dust in everything and the evidence of many ks on cccccorrruugaaaations
Chicken scratch in the GM120 made it very difficult to assess major work

    Value? Well...
For all the fruit you get with an RFSV $12-13k, all up, is still fair. Juddy paid much less for better, I paid the same for better and others paid $18k for better.
*shrugs* As always, it is worth what a person is prepared to pay for it.
IF you could get them for <$8-9k and put everything on a clean chassis, sweet!
    Cheers, BDave.

Have been out today to check out the Adelaide offerings.

Quite a variable bunch. Some canvas was almost brand new, others perforated. Some look sad, some look nicely refurbished.

Couldn't believe how many other people were also out there checking them over. There were hordes!!!

Service history made interesting reading. Every little thing ever done is documented. Impressive. Generally - I'd say no matter which one you ended up with it would be better maintained than any civilian unit.

Not sure if I'll bid for anything. The one stand out unit is already $2-3K higher priced than all the others, so will see where it ends up on Wednesday night.

    Cheers
    David

    Thanks Dave.

Still plenty to go i think, might be an opportunity to cherry pick yet.

Interesting about the paint. I heard that 10 Light Horse had been given some refurbed RFSV's in place of the buckets, but they came from the east in std green, not Pilbara Pink !.

I'll keep looking then. Theres a line of thought that says the ES cars have been better maintained than our local vehicles, due to the lack of civvy contractor $$ in the contract. Haven't seen any evidence though.

I know a couple of our had had a really rough time, so i'm particular about which to pick up.

I was past the depot here last week and see that the Regiment still has a solid complement of cars, with no word on when the replacements are due, or even what the replacements will be, so plenty of time yet i think.

Much rather pay 8 than 18.

    48-623

Does anyone know the history for 48-623 Senior Commander ? I have found the following tender response online

    https://www.tenders.gov.au/?event=pu...6AB40550FD11DC

which indicates it has had a major respray maybe due to some major panel damage in 2008 ?? Also from other information on this forum looks like the 24v alt is disconnected maybe because it is no good ? I am going to have a look tomorrow at Grays.

Did anyone who saw the current lot at Minto notice if the back seat of the senior commander was mouldy or if it was just the armourall they spray everywhere making it look mottled?
