My mate that does blue plates agree with the lower towing capacity........from memory it's got so ethic to do with the higher CoG and modified chassis.

He did say that it shouldn't be too difficult to get the towing capacity changed to the civvie spec units........but most will pit their head in the sand like all the other non ADR compliant mods.

I still havent had my copy of the owners manual returned, but IIRC, GVM and GCM weights indicated a towing capacity in excess of 3000kg.....

    G'Day.
EDE Project Perentie Profile states towed load of up 900kg.

EMEI G102, Tech Description of Truck, Utility, lightweight, P53 #157 states"...the towing pintle has a recommended towing capacity of 1200kg for both highway and cross-country operation."

Technical manual, User Handbook, Truck, FFR LtWt, states there is an approved towing pintle, but does not specify a weight.

Technical manual, User Handbook, Truck, Infantry Carrier, Lt, FF states
    Maximum towed load: 2000kg

    So, to get legalish...
The user manual is refered to as the highest authority unless over-rided by national legislation.
The Tech Manual, Use H'Book is not a LR publication.
So the argument then falls to: What does the civvy equivalent LR docs quote for the chassis and what is the manufacturers Max load rating?
    Cheers, BDave.

Hi Dave, to get legalish (love the word mate ) , is there a civvy equivalent for the chassis ?

The Perentie chassis appears superior with the structure above the spare location and the stronger "rear crossmember", but obviously my writing this doesn't make it "engineering"

So technically, wouldnt the brochure, as a LR publication, listing GVM and GCM, hold greater authority over the tech/user manuals?

    you would assume so........

my mate hasn't had the chance to investigate it as a 110 hasn't been presented to him for a safety certificate. towing capacity isn't a concern as its not a requirement for the inspection to obtain a pass, in his opinion there are at least four items that would fail a 110 presented to him, the owner would than likely go to another inspector that doesn't quite follow the rules.

Wasn't the only Perentie chassised 110 that was built purely for civillian 'sale' Sir Les Hiddens' white wagon? If so, that'd hold the key to civvy use of the chassis, assuming JLRA didn't just leave it with the army tow specs.
