Well,I do, but I don't want to jack up the bidding on the one I recommended to my mate, but I can say that Lot 007 has a smack in the front that has bent in the 110 badge & bulbar & the distorted bonnet & lot 006 is the hail damaged & lot 8 is the - visually at least - best.
They are all pretty honest examples.
Hi everybody, first time poster, but have been an irregular visitor to this site for quite a number of years. I'm thinking about picking up a perentie as my first land rover (but grew up with them in png).
I've noticed (and previously mentioned herein this tread) that there is a Senior Commander up for auction in Adelaide, and it's piqued my interest a little!
I have a couple of questions, is the 'tropical roof' removable? Any pics floating around with one off? Are they licensed to carry 5 passengers? It looks like from the photos that there are rear seatbelts. Due to rarity, would a camper (pop-top) conversion be sacrilegious? Is touring in a perentie actually even worth contemplating?
the tropical roof isnt designed to be removable, but the whole vehicle still complies to the meccano rule set so yes it can be if you try hard enough.
Why you would want to remove it is the next question... if your going to say roof racks then dont bother by the time you add the roof racks and frame youve used up most if not all and then some of the maximum roof load limit.
to see one without the tropic top on it just look at any other 110 5 door and imagine it in came.
yes they seat 5 legally
its not sacrilege you pay for it you do what you like to it, but dont complain when the resale value halves.
yes you can tour in them theres plenty of people who have done it in counties which is basically the same vehicle.

I have been looking a bit at the auctions and would like to clarify a few points if anyone can help;
In the hardtop versions apart from the winch and radio dist box what are the dfferences between the snr commander and the personnel carrier?
On these variants what is the seating capacity on the compliance plate?
What is the allowable roof load?
Thanks in advance
Ian

I would assume hard tops would be the same as civvie versions in construction, pretty sure there is a never ending debate on here what the max. Roof load is for a 110 is......anywhere between 50kg and 150kg. My old roof rack weight in at 120kg (previous owner built it) on its own and for my Simpson trip the total load would have been 200kg + gods know what the previous owner used carry up there.....it all seems to be holding up OK
