    G'Day Spud.
We see everything, Mwa ha ha
Easy, you are in SA and there are not too many '90 FFRs worth buying down there.
I concur with the Knight, looks like a full engine swap to me.

Out of curiosity, the rear crossmember looks quite shiny on that one but from some angles it looks like silver paint. What did you see up close?

Declaration: I am not bidding on it nor am I providing information to anyone bidding on it!

    Thanks
    Cheers, BDave.

No - that is just galvanizing as far as I could tell. Some have paint on the rear chassis area, but this one looks like the body was painted off of the chassis.

How can you tell that Lot 3 is one that might be worth buying?

We'll see if I end up with it at 5:00PM tonight!! After 126 bids I seem to be still winning it after 2 days.....

Thanks for the info on the engine too BTW.

Seems I own another Land Rover! Mrs Spud will be thrilled

Now all the hassle of Regency Park, and getting it registered.... which no doubt involve installing a keyed ignition lock at the very least.

Cheers for all you help BarefootDave and BlkKnight.

OK - I'll reword that: What made you think that Lot 3 was worth buying.....

The existing canopy is in reasonable nick. It's only going to be a farm car, so it'll do for the moment.

Both Engine and chassis show signs of refurbishment, guessing about 5-6 years ago.

What a mixed result from the latest auctions..

The couple of recently refurbished vehicles went for pretty high prices, in my opinion.

My logic might be flawed, but to pay $18,209 for one with a couple of thousand clicks is a premium of $12,000 over the majority of them ( given you are paying 16% on another $10-11K)
So that means the vehicle depreciates about $12,000 within the first 60-100K depending on what vehicle you compare it to that you could have purchased. Sorry if the purchaser reads this, but I just don't see the value, as most of these vehicles will last a long time in civilian hands.

    Wow - $18K!!

I paid $6.5K for this one: 1990 Land Rover 110 4X4 FFR Soft Top (Seaton, SA) Auction (0003-8001091) | GraysOnline Australia

It has 54,000Kms on it (with full log book to document - not changed speedo), so apart from the winch I think that's a very high price for something similar to the one I ended up with.

Some people obviously have too much money. I am sure the speedo would have been changed...

That vehicle was a full rebuild, but as you say $12k premium?!
    Bidding war.
I would consider $4-5K extra for a full Tenix but after that it isn't justified.
Sure if you add up the price of an engine and box rebuild you are coming close, but Tenix only rebuilt what was needed.
They are not a NOS type proposition.
Even the export market is out for something that exxy and other issues.

Spud paid a little less than what I would consider fair market value, well done!
The Carryalls in NSW/ SA were a fair-to-high price for the condition.
The SNr Cdr was a pretty good price for 1 of 11 in existence.
    January will prove interesting
    Cheers, BDave.
