Gday all.I got the 2nd 4 door wagon in SA. $13 809. Have just arrived back in Perth after a 39 hour trip. Averaged 11.3 L/H or 8.8 km/L. Nice car to drive. My only problem was a loose fanbelt. Is there a market for the 24v alternator? The 4 olympic tyres are near brand new should I save them , sell them or run them out? The 2 batteries in the rear seem buggered but once I change it all to 12v I will get new ones. There is a slight fuel leak dripping from somewhere near injector pump and landing on front diff - any ideas? Thanks in advance. Seeya. Paul.

    Nice buy....

Yep I agree ditch the 24v alternator, an FFR owner will pick grab it

The steel treks are crap once they start wearing I reckon.....run them for a while

You won't believe how many batteries the army goes through......good spot for your two aux. Batteries

    G'Day Paul.
Congratulations, you are the new owner of a 'Senior Commander', one of only 11 ever made!
It has that name as it was destined to be a staff car for the big brass, Brigadeers and such.
If you keep it close to standard you will have an appreciating asset!
Or at least keep the standard parts in storage.
Either way, there is a health market for those who wish to sell their ex-mil bits. Whatever you do, I urge you to join the Register of Ex-Military Land Rovers (remlr.com)
Many are members here also, I am one.
there is a wealth of archive material and you won't be razzed for modifying your vehicle if you choose.
    Cheers, BDave.

My logic might be flawed, but to pay $18,209 for one with a couple of thousand clicks is a premium of $12,000 over the majority of them ( given you are paying 16% on another $10-11K)
So that means the vehicle depreciates about $12,000 within the first 60-100K depending on what vehicle you compare it to that you could have purchased. Sorry if the purchaser reads this, but I just don't see the value, as most of these vehicles will last a long time in civilian hands.

I was watching that one until the price went stupid. But it didn't have a full rebuild at Bandiana, the engine wasn't touched and had about 120000kays on it. The rest of the car had $85000 spent on it three years ago, so for some, paying 18k for it may actually be money well spent.

Only the Army could spend $85,000 on a vehicle that was less than $30,000 new on the civilian market !! They could have bought 2..

G'day lucipla, and welcome to AULRO.
Thanks for the offer of updates, but it seems you missed the fact you are on p78 of a looong thread dealing with the auctions.
It started as a heads up that the auctions were beginning and is now a discussion area for specific vehicles and comments on purchases.
There are a lot of different sides to the auction story.
There is a seperate thread for discussion on prices and vehicle values, my Buyers Guide and related products, and issues relationg to ex-mil 110Rovers.

Have a look around and post in the most appropriate area. We do and it will make searching for info easier for you and those that come here after you.
    I hope this helps.
    Cheers, BDave.
