I hadn't set the DCC registers properly when I filmed this - I have the acceleration and deceleration set much longer now so it pulls away more prototypically. There are dozens of setpoints you can change and play with. It's not old school by turning up the power and the speed being equivalent to that. You'll notice I didn't actually touch the throttle - you can just see it at the bottom LHS when the engine moves off. I just commanded forward with a different switch, no acceleration or deceleration curves set, and it did its thing - made the sounds that locos make, then pulled away when it was ready. Only button I pressed was the whistle as it came around to complete a lap.
