    Thanks Gav.

Bugger, seems I missed the boat again & should have wrapped them up in tissue paper instead of throwing them at my brothers.

However, I will enjoy perving on your setup when you stop doing all those other nuisance jobs & get it done.

The Locos were based as far as I can tell, on the Sir Edward Henty Loco of Spirit of Progress fame but were black gloss slopey front firebox cladding & all had that lovely perfume of lightly oiled clockwork machinery.

I suspect they were made for the Australian market but were not electric powered but simple wind up stuff.
Thing is, I have searched for these online but have never found them. Anyone know these? Would love to see one again.

    Thanks.
There was a stall holder with a large collection of electric and clockwork 'Hornby' type trains and rolling stock, track etc for sale at the recent 'Clarendon Classic' antique machinery, truck show, swap meet at Clarendon near the Richmond airbase west of Sydney. Didn't take notice of prices, but there was plenty of stock.

    Thanks D130.

I suppose you couldn't have seen into the future & taken a photo of these Hornbys? NO? A pity.

    I'll pull my finger out.

Once I get the bases done, I'll lay some track straight away and run a train on it for you and video it.

    That would be ducky, Ducky.

My old Mum (well she wasn't that old back then of course) used to make proper tiny stitched bags of wheat for us to load into the open top wagons.

    Ahhh, the good olde days.

For those in the area, the annual Sunbury Model Railway Show is on this weekend. Well worth a visit and hopefully they’ll be some good stalls selling their wares as usual. Will have to take some cash with me...😇

I’ll be there Saturday morning if anyone else is in the area.

On the subject of model railways - next time any of you are in Peterborough (SA), have a look at the layout in the newsagent.
