RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
My current bike is a Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport, and a couple of photos of others I have had, love BMW's, Guzzi's and Ducs, also partial to the current Triumph Thruxton. Probably over twenty bikes in last 35 years of riding.
The BMWLT was a brilliant machine, Now my wife is not on the back it was waisting away.
Only wear full protective clothing. Dianese

I used to ride road bikes, funny story actually,
When i got my bike license my parents were nice enough to give me this:
99 VTR 250,
This was an awesome little bike, I rode it to Melbourne and back, and up n down Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious every weekend.
Then sometime later i was contemplating buying this off a mate:
I had just signed my contract to make my new job perminent on Friday afternoon, the following week i was off to get a loan to buy the Defender. Early Saturday morning after a big night on the **** the night before i went for our regular Saturday ride up Mt Glorious. After a big breakfast at Miala up the top of the mountain it was back on the bikes to continue down the back side when this happened:
Coming through a blind left hand hairpin, i was distracted by an accident on the shoulder, when i looked back the car was on the apex coming the other way,
Hit it so hard it smashed the side of the clutch casing out,
And now for the ironic part, the car i hit:
Check out the track rod:
The family had just packed up for a weekend away camping, 10 minutes into their drive an 18 yr old on a moto ruined their weekend. If its a AULRO member, my apologies once again. Totally my fault, riding tired, getting complaicent, did the wrong thing grabbed a heap of rear brake and stepped the bike out sideways, over the centre line and clipped the car.
Oh and did someone say riding gear?
Draggin Jeans,
Joe Rocket leather jacket,
Joe Rocket GP gloves,
HJC helmet and SIDI GP boots,
Shattered my femur and compound fractured the tib and fib, the boots saved my foot, noone realised i had broken the bottom half of my leg until they took my boots off,
Count how many knees i had, and please excuse the series 3 mustard undies haha,
something like 50 staples,
I now have a rod down the centre of the bone in my femur and tib, so metal hip to ankle. Not a mark on me anywhere else, a real testiment to wearing your gear!
A short helicopter ride and 3 weeks in the Wesley later, it took me 4 months to learn to walk again, and once i did the first thing i did once i was working again was buy this!
The moral of the story is, never ride tired, always wear your gear, and never get complaicent,
Ill get another bike one day, the Mrs is hassling me too! Funny since i had the accident on her 21st birthday!
