Sounds like a great trip coming up. Please take plenty of photos, and post them when you get back. :)

Back from the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. This is how my bike looked over there at scrutineering:

Unfortunately it spent the week of the Rally except for the first day parked up in the Bivouac like this:

with me parked up in the Bivouac like this:

I tried to re-start but they wouldn't let me:

So I made use of the nearby Qasr Al Sarab resort swimming pool for water therapy:

At least I got to ride the Super Special Stage prologue:

Grade 2 strain of ACL, partial complex tear of MCL and some cartilage damage. Cartwheeling a rally bike end over end over a dune is not a good idea ... especially on day 1 of a 5 day rally! Better luck next year!

Well, after seeing some of the beautiful machinery in this thread my ride seems a bit tame. First bike was a Honda VTR250, but now I ride a 2005 Suzuki Burgman 650. (sorry, no photo)
Yeah, call it a scooter if you like, but it ain't no Vespa. I call it the Iceburg - big, white, cool, and a lot more under the surface than people expect. The continuously-variable transmission is great, and it's just a joy to ride. I've heard them referred to as the Halfabusa (the 650 being half of the Hayabusa's 1300).
Bought it Jan 2010 and rode it from Melbourne to Mt Hotham the next day, having not ridden for three years prior. :D
The biggest surprise was the brilliant engine braking, which I didn't expect from an 'automatic' transmission. It accelerates strongly and smoothly, leans nicely, and brakes well. With the step-through design it's easy on and off for a shorty like me, and you can easily change seating position from time to time as you ride (feet back, feet forward, etc.).
Touring range is about 300km, which is about as much as I want to ride without a break anyway, and lockable storage under the seat big enough for two full-face helmets.
It will keep up with most bikes of similar capacity and can usually beat them from a standing start - the limiting factor is my skill/nerve/common sense.

I know there's a few two wheel owners on this forum and as we seem to have a few other non Landy threads, what's the possibility of a bike thread????
My mate with the Ducati has recovered from his back surgery to a point that he's had to buy a T100 Trumpy as the Duc is too hard on his back.
We had a Roller Derby bout in Bunbury about 220k's south of Perth last Saturday, he was up for a ride and the Duc needed a run so off we went.
Further discussions resulted in the Duc having a price put on it, something I took to the War Office who has approved the expenditure! :BigThumb: :MileStone: :D
So now just waiting on the extra ordinary funding merchants to hand over a percentage of the moolah....
Unfortunately the D2 additions will be on the back burner for a bit but not too worried.
So, here's a few pics of the trip.
