    "Respect"?...absolutely, for many reasons.

Sorry Pickles but there isn't any brilliant engineering in the commodore.I was in the suspension department when the engineers decided to removed the upper link from the original German designed suspension with the VT bomberdoor. The result of this caused the VT rear suspension to have excessive camber and from the VS on wards to have really bad bump steer,I have plenty more examples of 'olden ''brilliant engineering''.A supercar is a marriage of all the best in vehicle attributes, steering, braking, handling, power.A family car made from parts from the cheapest supplier with a crate motor shoved in the front has none of those. Do you own a Jaguar?
I seem to remember you're not too keen on the current Mustang either?
No one is saying it's a "good buy".
What it is, is the very last "special" from HSV, fully engineered by them, and they have made a world class, very fast, 4 door Sedan, which will be a most rewarding purchase for expectant owners.
Sure, it ain't for everyone, but I'd expect recognition & respect for what it is, from anyone who has investigated what R & D has gone into the W1, whether it appeals to them, or not.
There are plenty of awesome vehicles on the road, they're not for me, but I hope I can recognize & appreciate something special, even if it's not to my taste.
I might add that I'm on a few Aussie Forums that are into V8s etc, and when I talk about Gracie, our 90, although with only 90kw, it's not for them, they appreciate the vehicle for what it is & what it means to Wifey & I.
Some will buy a Range Rover SVR for what $250K+, some will buy a Lambo for $800k+,.....and some will buy a W1,...me?...I like & appreciate all of em.
    Pickles.

Knock a hundred grand of the W1 and you've still got an overpriced taxi.
Old males have been doing the same Ian A friend of mine has shoe horned a Holden V6 into a crashed Austin Healey and done an amazing job. Not for the purists but it does drive as good and has more power !!
You can read about it here

    Thats funny!

On the other hand, people who have a clue, the noise of the supercharger is what will turn heads!

    Mate, I don't think so!
You're a bit out of date my friend, those things are currently going for over twice the price of a W1,....and would I buy one, if I had the dollars, no it's not my type of car, I like a bigger engine with more grunt,(maybe a 599 which would also be much cheaper!)...but more to the point relative to some on here,...do I appreciate it?,....Of course I do,..it's a classic.
I went to Motorclassica this year, saw all sorts of cars, all with their merits, and some with their faults,...me?, I loved 'em all.
    Regards, Pickles.

    Gotta say though, VERY NICE!
Production is apparently limited due to GM America only shipping 300 motors to Oz

So when it's all said and done, it's an American car, not Australian, if it was, they probably would have made more
