Thread: Diff Guard or Shovel?

Hey PAul,

Was that one of the $150 + P&H ones on e-bay a week or so ago?

I looked and decided that I had better stuff (coming from HRA!!!) to spend money on and could probably afford to bash a hole in a diff casing and pull a replacement from wreckers (or Andy E) for cheaper than the guard!

Only drama probably being the tow out after mucking the diff up...

Yeah Dave, Gary had a few of them for sale. I could have picked it up cheaper from the wholesaler but I like throw stuff his way every now and then. He's looked after me in the past and this was a personal (other business) purchase not a Hard Range one.

It's been a learning experience anyway, and a tax deduction for my other business. I was hoping this one might save me the hassle of making another one, but I just couldn't do it.

There will be a Hard Range diff guard one day. I know what I want it to do and have a pretty good idea of how it will attach, and it will cover a lot more than the diff pumpkin. Gotta make sure it doesn't get in the way of accessing the sway bar disconnects though, and doen't turn in to a shovel when the diff rotates as the EAS height is increased

As for bashing the diffs... they're pretty strong anyway. I've given mine a few good whacks on rocks and they are still working

Shovel!, I don't care for the Qt ones either, I think the best is the ones that just cover the tin can and that's all, the housing is strong enough to take plenty of impact, its just the tin cover that need protection

The bloody freights the killer... not that any of the stuffs cheap anyway, but to then add the big shipping bills sux.

Ah well, I feel comfortable that (in time) HRA will provide a solid and more cost effective solution to all our OZ P38Armour needs!

Aw, gee... thanks Dave you know Andy and I will do our best to "keep it real". Flo's stuff is good I am sure, but you are right, the shipping is the killer.

BTW: I must get around to doing a write-up on the adjustable panhard rod we had made and have just fitted to my P38 Just the thing for bringing the front diff back in to line after the lift. Keep an eye out for the adjustable rear panhard rod and rear anti-sway bar coming soon as well.

Yes - but have you seen the price! Nearly the same as a secondhand P38A!
