I'm using NGK BPR-6ES in my P38, so is Dave in his pretty pig I think. They're about $2.20 each on fleabay new via UK (< $20 a set of 8). I'm of the opinion that I'd rather be putting in a brand new set of plugs for under $20 every 10,000kms rather than relying on super expensive iridium/platinum ones actually doing a good job for 100,000kms. Either way works though, NGK is a good brand imho
I'm same as what Junosi said... just be sure to gap them as even though they supposedly come preset, its only a minor variance that will put lumps in your idle/tune. And besides, it only takes a minute or so on each one to check and adjust where req'd.
The other thing I like about the cheapies is that you get to have an insight into what's going on in each cylinder every 10,000km's. Even if I don't really know what I'm looking for, I can pick when one is dirtier or oilyer (hows that spelt?). And besides, I just like the idea of keeping an eye on things with my P38 these days!!!
Thanks Heaps fellas. Im the same, like taking them out and having a look at whats going on (says the man who otherwise drives diesel cars....!). BPR 6ES it is then as ive never had an issue with NGK either.
BTW, the reason that they have Platinum plugs is that most emission control laws call for no maintenance to be required on any emission sensitive component for usually 60,000miles in the USA and AFAIK 100K in Europe.ie the governments require the makers to guarantee compliance for those milages.

my new injectors are finally in and the result is well worth the money IMO. Firstly there doesn't seem to be any great power gain (wasn't expected anyway) but there's a huge jump in low end torque and it runs a LOT smoother.
The highway k's doesn't seem to have changed much it's still around 13l/100, the real difference is in the town driving. It's currently gone from between 15-18l/100 with the old injectors to 13-14l/100 with the new ones.
These figures are only a preliminary result tho as it copped another dose of suby cleaner and an overdose of in tank cleaner today as well, the tank cleaner usually dumps both power and economy, so I wont be able to give accurate figures till the next tank of fuel.
I'm guessing by the state my poor little 4.0l was in that it had never had an injection service. The attached video is what you can expect from the suby cleaner, however this is the second time it has been done in a week and is a lot cleaner than last time.
All the credit for my gains tho should go to my mate Garry as he specializes in EFI and economy tuning and was the one who pointed me in the right direction. :D

Sounds good, how much were those injectors and do you reckon anybody could put them in? :angel: Is there any requirement to plug in to Faultmate or anything like that?

Keep in mind new injectors won't help an LPG vehicle, well except for the brief period on startup for those that start on petrol and swtich to lpg later.

At junosi, yes there is no point spending the money if you run lpg, after all at 110ron and 70 od cents a liter its the ultimate power/economy upgrade, but its not for me as i tend to drag the underside of my rover over humps a lot. (no im not lifting it either). [bigwhistle]

If there is an issue with injectors does anyone know if the Bosch gen 3 type used as an upgrade on 3.9 Classics are suitable for the non Thor P38`s. I know the Thor injectors are shorter but they might be a cheaper option on gems cars. The last Fully reconditioned set of 8 I purchased from the States was around $70 all up, yes thats right A$70 for 8.
