Mods to the airbox will be limited to a good seal against the guard, and installation of a ducks bum drain installed to let rain water drain out.

The current raised air intake is made from fiberglass, and i was a bit unsure at first, however now i have seen it, and felt, i think its strong enough.

Please be a little more paitent though, they arent ready to sell yet. As paul said, we are not happy with a few small things of the design (mounting tabs and head).

For the head, i was just going to ask the fiberglasser to make somthing similar to the safari one, but not as high, and with a bit more angle (when you look at the car straight on, the top of the head isnt level). Does anyone else have any ideas??

    Andy

PS paul wheres the pics of the diff guard?

sneak peek at the rear bar which we will be putting into production shortley after the show. The LED lights will be different though, I prefer the slimline ones.

That's a very long wheel carrier compared with, say, the Kaymar unit I have on my P38A - about twice as long. That also means you need a lot more clearance behind the car to open it.

The length is for rigidity, as the shorter it is the more chance of moving.

the overall length is far less than a disco back door, which is what phils design ws for origionally.

Andy, with it that long how will go opening when my camper trailer is attached?

It may be the size of the disco rear door, but that is one of the main reasons I'll never buy a vehicle with one rear swing door!

I'd prefer it be as close to the hinge as possible, wouldn't that provide the required rigidity?

criticism..usuall comes from them that arnt capable of building one them selves
the swing away is that long for 1 main reason and that is capable of holding a 35'' tyre, how far outside the body would a 35'' tyre stick out on your kaymar ron?? i also wanted to spread the load and have some extra for a hi lift jack mount/shove/rear light pole/whatever.

anyway, its my design, its a prototype and at least i havnt copied someone elses work.

It wasn't criticism, it was a constructive comment!

There was no mention of it being for a 35" wheel and therefore a need for that size. I wasn't commenting on how far outside the body the wheel would stick, merely on the length of the arm.

Re a 35" on the Kaymar, I have no idea but Paul can put one on mine to check.

Personally, I think if you took the Safari head, flipped it 90* so the mouth was tall and skinny not short and wide, and rounded the edges off so it was more oval, not rectangular, shortened the length of the snorkel and mounted it so it was flush with the roof height, that would look Mickey Mouse.

Might be a bit Pie In the Sky, but if you're looking for opinions... :P

Or feel free to send me a test snorkel and I'll build the head I'm thinking of for myself... I mean you

    Cheers,
    Keels

    Don't get knarky Discowhite!!

It's all constructive comment as p38arover said.

And you're right, I couldn't build it. That's why I'd be interested in buying one when HardRange go into production.

But as I said, in its present configuration it would not be suitable for me.

Standard size tyres, camper trailer attached.

I'd have to climb over the drawbar to unclip the carrier, then climb back over the drawbar to get to the beer fridge, assuming it would swing over the top of the drawbar and camper handbrake.

So, Andy, the bumper bar looks fine, but those not using large tyres would probably be happier with a smaller swing-away,

Why not make both type of swing-aways and let the buyer choose?
